The Pwani Innovation Week took off today at the Swahilipot Hub in Mombasa town running from 3-7 December. The week-long event which Cellulant is sponsoring is aimed at fostering an innovation ecosystem focused on creating and supporting new businesses across key sectors in the Pwani region. The program features a variety of events including a week-long exhibition, a concept hack and a keynote address from the General Manager Cellulant Kenya, Felix Nthiga. The programme also includes family art and cultural events and will conclude with the annual Pwani Got Talent competition – the regions’ biggest art and culture talent showcase.
The highlight of the partnership between Cellulant and Pwani Innovation Week is a Concept Hack where youth from across the six Coastal counties – Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, Tana River, and Taita Taveta are competing to create innovative solutions for their communities. They will, in teams of 2-4 pitch their concept to a judging panel with winners being awarded at the event’s gala dinner on Thursday 6th December.
