Dorcas Amoah from our Ghana office has been working at Cellulant for the past 4 years as a Customer Service Coordinator. Today she is the Head of Activation for our product Tingg.
Dorcas describes herself as a focused, self-motivated and passionate individual who is ready to learn and does not easily give up. She further described herself as a great songwriter and singer.
Here is her Cellulant story:
What attracted you to Cellulant?
As someone with a science background and having worked with Customer Experience teams across the banking and health industries. I wanted to explore other spaces to enhance my skills as well as learn new things.
The Fintech space was what caught my interest hence Cellulant.
What do you do from day to day at Cellulant?
I am responsible for driving the growth of Cellulant’s Tingg consumer channel in various markets. I am also responsible for merchant/customer activation to drive consistent growth in transactions and value on every service on our Ting channel (USSD & App), growing our revenue Month on Month.
In addition to this, I take up the role of the in-country Compliance Officer serving as a liaison between the Bank of Ghana and the Data Protection Commission. I ensure Cellulant Ghana files monthly returns with the Bank Of Ghana and ensure we meet all requirements of the Data Protection Commission.

What drives you?
Always wanting to succeed and not relent on one’s efforts irrespective of the obstacles.
What would you say is the most exciting part of the job?
As a consumer marketing person, I ensure the growth of my channels through various campaigns. The exciting part of the job is understanding how our consumers behave through the customer lifecycle and meeting their needs at each stage. This translates into growth in revenue.
What’s the problem you are solving for your market?
I ensure the growth of our Tingg consumer channels in terms of users and revenue across our markets
In the country, I ensure we are compliant in terms of filing our monthly returns with the regulator, with data protection laws and any other regulatory issues
What has been your most rewarding moment?
So, I have had a couple of these from Customer Experience to marketing. Just to highlight a few. The first was when my team and I were recognized by MTN Ghana for exceptional service delivery in October 2018. This was 7 months after I had joined as the Customer Service Coordinator and started the Customer Service team.The other one was when my current team(marketing) and I took over to run Tingg consumer in March 2020, we had a huge increased average of Monthly Recurring Revenue between December 2020 and 2021. Lastly, last year when I was voted the emerging leader of the year by my in-country team. This made me realize that I was contributing my best to the success of my team and Cellulant as a whole.
What is something you wish you knew earlier in your life?
Never underestimate yourself. You can do anything and everything provided to put your mind to it.

How would you like to be remembered?
I always want to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone I come across and everywhere I find myself and that is what I want to be remembered for. As someone who left a positive mark in people’s lives that is not easily forgotten.
What do you love most about working at Cellulant?
What I like most about Cellulant is the fact that it gives everyone the opportunity to grow and develop. Not forgetting the amazing team I work with.
What do you do during your free time to relax?
I love music and I write songs. This is what you find me doing in my leisure time. Aside from this, I either read or watch movies.
In your own words, what does Cellulant want to do in Africa and why is that inspirational for you?
Cellulant is ensuring connectedness between businesses and consumers. We are keen on providing a seamless payment ecosystem that connects businesses, banks and their consumers. To provide them with products that are beneficial to them which would create a lasting impact in the lives of Africans as a whole. We are keen on delighting our customers by doing whatever it takes and this inspires me.
