Oscar Mulenga a Sales-Executive-SMB from Zambia. He joined Cellulant in 2021 as an On Ground Activation Agent for our first instore merchant then Yalelo fish. His hard work and zeal afforded him an opportunity as a sales executive under SMB channel . Today Oscar is among the sales executives working to drive merchant acquisition in Zambia.

What attracted you to Cellulant?
The work culture, growth mindset and diversity of teams.
I wanted to work for a company with talented people from all over Africa who were working towards creating solutions for the continent’s problems in the payment space and were keen on seeing its staff grow while at it.
What do you do from day to day at Cellulant?
I am the Sales Executive SMB Cellulant Zambia. My role is to acquire enterprises, merchants
and small-medium businesses, my responsibility is to grow all the merchants that I signed
up by making sure they are transacting and bringing revenue. Further to this I make sure customers know the product and have access to new services.
What drives you?
I am driven by the need to meet my targets and goals. As I love learning new things therefore you will always find me stretching my skills through research. I also love being a good example to others, therefore, making sure I do my best.
What would you say is the most exciting part of the job?
Delivering on my core mandate through signing up enterprise merchants every week, which is quite exciting as well as knowing that my work gives me the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the company. When the company grows, we grow too.
What’s the problem you are solving for your market?
My job gives me the opportunity to help solve quite a number of problems in my market, that is providing and upselling digital payment platforms. I also strive to find adaptation to the new trends across the market by investing some of my time in data analysis
What has been your most rewarding moment?
When I got employee of the month on 3rd June 2022. This made me realize that my hard work was recognized and appreciated, by our country manager Mr Gilbert Lungu. As well as my line manager Mr Ezra Tembo. This was influenced by outstanding performance and going beyond and above expectations.
What is something you wish you knew earlier in your life?
Choosing a career in Sales and Marketing because I have grown to be fond of the job and always striving to be the best salesperson.
How would you like to be remembered?
A Passionate Team player!
With growth comes responsibility and as such, I would like to always make sure as I grow I also share my learnings with my team members, especially on anything sales related. All of this is driven by my passion for what I do.

What do you do during your free time to relax?
When I am not acquiring merchants I read inspirational novels, go to the gym and occasionally watch football while supporting my favourite team Chelsea.
