The Cellulant office was awash in celebration when Milkah Wachiuri was named one of the Top 25 Women in Fintech.

She was recognized by the Financial Technology report which is a global comprehensive source for business news, investment activity and corporate actions related to financial technology.

The list included heavyweights in the industry such as Martha Sazon, CEO and President of Gcash (Mynt – Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc.), Christina Colby, Chief Customer Officer of Guidewire Software, Anna Lynch who is the UK Managing Director for Flow Traders, Tingting Peng is Chief Capital, Strategy, and Impact Officer at Moove among others.

As a passionate executor, Milkah thrives on building departments from scratch, transforming organizations, and enhancing systems and processes.

She enjoys working on truly transforming teams and individuals to realise their potential fully.

She started her career at Deloitte as an auditor, then joined Cellulant in 2012 to build the group’s finance function, where she led the finance team and built out the finance department as CFO.

In this role, she consolidated the group’s reporting framework and the Global and Country finance teams. She oversaw the business through two critical growth rounds of fundraising: Series B and C.

She transitioned roles from finance to lead operations in Nigeria as the COO.

Today, she heads the Growth team – Strategy and People Teams – at Cellulant as the Chief Growth Officer, leading the team that drives organic and inorganic growth for the business.

She is responsible for finding opportunities that promote operational excellence, advancing their plan, and securing ongoing financial support for the business.

For both herself and others, Milkah places a great value on mentoring, and she frequently volunteers her time to mentor and exchange experiences with other professionals who are enthusiastic about their professional aspirations and personal development.

She appreciates and cherishes the close collaboration with founders, CEOs, and other executives to prepare, review, and make strategic decisions, co-develop business and revenue models, and grow organizations.

Wachiuri has a Bachelor of Commerce in finance from the University of Nairobi and a Global Executive MBA from IESE Business School.

On behalf of all Cellulanters globally, Congratulations to you Milkah!
